New Bill Passed with Bi-partisan Support to Help Individuals with Autism
Current Senator from the 35th district one of only a few to vote against bill
Springfield, IL - The Illinois Senate passed House Bill 2070, Tuesday, September
23, which requires insurance providers to expand coverage for individuals with
Autism up to age 21.

Current State Senator for the 35th district, Brad Burzynski, was only one of
seven to vote against expanding insurance coverage for autistic children and
families struggling to meet their needs.

Ryan Gailey, running for the State Senate in the 35th district, believes this
bill will go along way toward helping families that are in a constant battle
with insurance companies over coverage.  This is a big deal to families dealing
with autism.

“Treatment is the key to get families adjusted to helping a child with Autism,”
said Gailey.  “This legislation helps those families that are struggling with
these special children. This is what government should be doing. An important
part of asserting family values, as my opponent has often done over the years,
involves actually fighting for families.”

According to filing reports, Burzynski has taken in almost $5,000 from insurance
lobbyist just last year alone.

Gailey, a 2nd Lieutenant in the Illinois National Guard, knows what it takes to
be an ethical leader and will take that experience to Springfield.

“Being a leader in Springfield means fighting for families and not caving to
partisan political pressure or pressure from lobbyist,” said Gailey. “If other
common sense bills like House Bill 2070 come up, we need a fresh, strong voice
willing to stand up and support bills that help families and reform the way our
government works”

This pattern of voting against bills to help families in Illinois at the expense
of big lobbyist did not start with House Bill 2070.

Burzynski also voted no for a Public School Trans Fat Ban (4/17/2008 SB 2858)
earlier this year. This bill held strong bi-partisan support as it looked out
for the health and safety20of our children. He was one of only five state
senators to vote against the bill.
